Overview
Piston rings hold the gas in the compression chamber. In a non-lubricated compressor they run dry against the liner, so the ring material decides how long the stage keeps its efficiency.
Corvex rings are moulded and machined from filled PTFE and PEEK compounds chosen for the gas, the pressure differential and the liner material. For gas-specific and high-pressure duty we use our proprietary filler compositions to cut wear and extend service intervals.

Overview
In horizontal compressors the rider ring carries the piston. It must take the load, stay dimensionally stable when hot and wear slowly and evenly so the piston never touches the liner.
We supply solid and cut rider rings, rider bands and rider-VLD piston assemblies in bronze-filled and carbon-filled PTFE and in PEEK for heavy pistons and high temperatures.

Overview
Rod packings stop gas escaping along the piston rod. Each packing cup holds a pair of segmental rings, a radial-cut sealing ring and a tangential-cut ring, held on the rod by a garter spring so they keep sealing as they wear.
Corvex supplies complete packing sets and individual rings for every stage, including cylinder packings and suction packings.

Overview
Pressure breaker rings sit at the cylinder end of the rod packing. They damp the pressure pulsation from each stroke so the rings behind them see a steadier load and wear more slowly.
We make them in stiff, creep-resistant filled PTFE and PEEK, matched to the packing set they protect.

Overview
Oil wiper and scraper rings sit on the crankcase side of the piston rod. They wipe the lubricating oil back into the crankcase so it cannot be carried into the gas.
Corvex scraper rings are made in bronze and bronze-filled PTFE for a hard, sharp scraping edge, and supplied as complete segmental sets with springs.

Overview
Non-metallic valve plates close more quietly than steel, tolerate small amounts of liquid and dirt, and do not damage the valve seat. PEEK keeps its stiffness at discharge temperatures, which makes it the standard material for modern compressor valves.

Overview
Etching changes only the surface layer so that standard adhesives can grip it. The face turns brown; every other property of the PTFE stays the same.
Keep etched material wrapped and out of ultraviolet light until use, as UV degrades the bondable surface.

PTFE sliding pads let bridge decks, pipelines and vessels move with temperature without transferring load. They carry high pressure, need no lubrication and are unaffected by weather and corrosion. Dimpled pads hold a reservoir of grease for even lower friction.
